UBC Sauder Bachelor of Commerce Website Revamp Project

Project Overview:

Led the web revamp for the Bachelor of Commerce program section at UBC Sauder.
Started with a discovery meeting to assess website strengths/weaknesses with the program director and manager.
Developed a plan to restructure, streamline, and consolidate content for better user experience.

Research & Planning:

Used Google Analytics to analyze traffic metrics (page visits, drop-off rates, click-through rates).
Reviewed comparable websites from other universities to inform redesign decisions.
Created a new sitemap, introduced updated categories, and ensured consistent naming conventions across the site.

Wireframing & Mockups:

Developed wireframe mockups using placeholder text/images to focus on design.
Collaborated with stakeholders to review and refine the design before proceeding to content population.

Challenges & Solutions:

Coordination & Approvals: Faced delays waiting on senior leadership approvals and scheduling feedback sessions.

Solution: Set up clear communication channels, established mini deadlines, and used Asana to track tasks. Blocked calendar time for regular check-ins at each project stage.
Collaboration:

Worked closely with the marketing team to finalize and populate content.
Managed and guided work-learn students to help build out pages and implement the final design.

Outcome:

Successfully completed the project within the June-September 2024 timeframe, delivering a refreshed and streamlined website that meets both business and user needs.
