Vancouver Sunrun 10km race team captain and T-shirt logo designs

I have been running the Vancouver Sun Run every year since 2000, starting as part of a team while volunteering at Riley Park Community Centre. At first, my competitive nature drove me to beat my friends and surpass my previous year’s goals, keeping me motivated to participate the following year. But over time, I began running just for myself, realizing I didn’t need to compare myself to others. Instead, I focused on maintaining the tradition and simply enjoying the experience.

Much like this race, life often presents challenges where pushing our limits and staying committed are crucial. It's about overcoming moments when we feel like we can't continue and finding the motivation to persevere. In these moments of pushing ourselves, we truly discover our strength and resilience.

As team captain for UBC IT, I wanted to do more than just participate—I wanted to lead and exercise my creativity by customizing our T-shirt logo designs. I designed the team T-shirts for four years, using Photoshop to work with brand logos while adhering to digital assets, branding, and print guidelines. Leading the team, I promoted the event, recruited members, organized training sessions, collected race bibs and T-shirts, and followed up with results, all while ensuring we gathered for team photos. This role allowed me to combine leadership, creativity, and community building, making the experience even more rewarding.
